Arsenal sign Aubameyang for record fee

28-year-old Gabonese striker is Arsenal's third signing in January transfer window

Premier League side Arsenal announced on Wednesday the signing of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a record transfer fee.

In a statement on their official website, Arsenal said: "The 28-year-old has joined us from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee."

Arsenal transferred Aubameyang from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a club record fee of €63.75 million ($79.44 million), making him the most expensive signing in the club's history.

Gabonese striker is the club's third signing of the January transfer window after Konstantinos Mavropanos and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

"Auba is one of the world's most highly-rated strikers. He scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for Dortmund and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club," the club said.

"This deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and Auba's squad number will be confirmed shortly," it added.
