Fenerbahce edge out Besiktas in thriller

Fenerbahce barely won the derby 1-0 against city rivals Besiktas with an injury-time goal at Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul on Sunday night.

In the 19th minute, home team Fenerbahce's Nigerian forward Emmanuel Emenike missed a one-on-one chance, failing to take advantage of a defensive mistake by Besiktas player Necip Uysal.

Emenike was heavily protested by Fenerbahce fans after missing the chance. He wanted to be replaced but he stayed on the pitch until half time.

In 35', Fenerbahce's Portuguese central midfielder Raul Meireles left the pitch injured. Near the end of the first half Besiktas' goalkeeper Tolga Zengin was subbed out due to injury.

Booed by the fans during the first half, Emenike was replaced by Cameroonian striker Pierre Webo in half time.

In the early minutes of the second half, yet another injury caused Fenerbahce's Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt to be subbed out.

In the 80th minute Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup's shot went out. Before the shot Besiktas striker Demba Ba could not convert a chance.

In injury time Fenerbahce forward Moussa Sow broke the deadlock. Sow took the shot without trapping the ball in the area, after having received a head flick from Webo. This goal sealed the victory for Fenerbahce at home.

With this victory, the Canaries raised their points to 53, while Besiktas have 54 points and Galatasaray are leading the league with 55 points.

Besiktas striker Demba Ba, Bursaspor's Fernandao and Trabzonspor target man Oscar Cardozo are in first place in top scorer list with 15 goals. These three players are followed by Galatasaray's goal poacher Burak Yilmaz scoring 14 goals. Burak is followed by Akhisar Belediyespor forward Theofanis Gekas tallying 12 goals.
