Former Olympique de Marseille players, Didier Drogba and Samir Nasri's transfers to English clubs are being investigated by police, French media reported on Wednesday.
Current Marseille president Vincent Labrune, and his two predecessors, Jean-Claude Dassier and Pape Diouf, are among several people being questioned by police over alleged illegal commissions and illicit payments made on transfers involving the French football club.
The Ivorian veteran striker Drogba had been purchased from Guingamp for a €6 million ($7.53 million) transfer fee in 2003, and was sold to the English club Chelsea for €36 million ($45.2 million) next season. Another former 'OM' member Nasri was bought by Arsenal for €16 million ($20.1 million) fee in 2008.
Both players' departures from Olympique de Marseille are reportedly under investigation.
There is also allegedly a €3 million ($3.7 million) 'gap' in Drogba's transfer fee after he was sold to Chelsea.
French Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille's former chair Christophe Bouchet expressed his concern that these allegations could affect Drogba's sale.
