The French playmaker has not been included as part of the Magpies' first-team this season after his relationship with manager Alan Pardew appears to have broken down, and an exit before the end of the summer seems increasingly likely now.
After initially struggling to find suitors for the 27-year-old, it now looks as though Turkish giants Besiktas could end his difficult time at St James' Park with a late bid to take him off their hands.
Ben Arfa has previously been linked with bigger clubs such as Liverpool in the past, after occasionally showing glimpses of superb talent in the Premier League with some fine displays of individual skills and a collection of breath-taking solo goals.
However, the former Marseille star has been plagued by inconsistency and attitude problems throughout his career, and was recently reported as having returned for Newcastle's pre-season preparations unfit and overweight.
Still, he seemingly remains a top transfer target for Besiktas, who also moved to sign his former Newcastle team-mate Demba Ba from Chelsea earlier this summer.
