The 27-year-old's own place in the quarter-finals is already assured after Diego Simeone's side cruised past AC Milan on Tuesday night with a 5-1 aggregate victory over the Italians. While the Turkish star has been linked with Man United.
However, Turan, who spent six years at the Turk Telekom Arena before joining the Spanish side 2011, is adamant Roberto Mancini's team are capable of causing an upset in west London and will join him in next week's draw.
"I hope Galatasaray do well. The 1-1 scoreline wasn't a bad result at all, one goal in London and who knows what can happen."
"I get the feeling Galatasaray can knock out Chelsea from the competition, they definitely have the capability," he insisted.
Jose Mourinho's men controlled large sections of the game in Istanbul and scored a crucial away goal but a defensive mishap involving Petr Cech and John Terry let Aurelien Chedjou sneak in to equalise late on.
Focus on the return leg will surround an emotional homecoming for Blues legend Didier Drogba, but the Turkish giants cannot allow sentiment to interrupt the task at hand if they are to inflict an unlikely upset and administer a rare defeat on home turf for the 2012 winners.
