Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic are to finalize a deal for former Turkish international Nadir Ciftci late Wednesday, landing the striker for a transfer fee of £1.5 million ($2.3 million).
Celtic had previously made two offers of £900,000 and £1 million to Dundee United for Ciftci, but the club snubbed the offers. Dundee had accepted a £1.5 million offer from Wigan Athletic for Ciftci, but the Turkish player rejected the deal.
Ciftci, who found the net 33 times in the past two seasons with Dundee Untied, had earlier rejected a contract extension from his club.
The 23-year-old striker had enjoyed a spell at Portsmouth 2010, at Turkish club Kayserispor in 2011 and Dutch team NAC Breda in 2012, before eventually signing for Dundee United.
Ciftci has been capped nine times by Turkey's U19 team.
If the deal goes through, this will be the third player Celtic will sign from Dundee United in the span of six months. Former signings were Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong.
